Why Cornerstone? Because successful learning begins with the right cornerstone.
Our Four Cornerstones to successful learning:
1. Small class sizes. Smaller class size enables students to hear better, to see and be seen better, to focus better, and to learn better. At Cornerstone, there are no more than 15 students per classroom in kindergarten through 6th grade.
2. Individual Instruction. Children learn differently; therefore learn best when taught in the style best suited to them. At Cornerstone, teachers spend time each day instructing students individually, ensuring the lessons are understood and reinforced in the child's own learning style. This approach also enables the teacher and student to have their own unique relationship which fosters self-confidence and motivation.
3. Focus on Fundamental Academics. Reading, writing and arithmetic are skills that follow children through their entire life. Therefore, we believe that mastering these fundamental academics in early education is key to success in future learning and adulthood. At Cornerstone, we carefully reviewed, researched and tested several curriculums searching for and ultimately selecting those enabling children to master reading, writing, and arithmetic in their early education years.
4. Learning Environments. From carpeted classrooms and hallways minimizing noise to the presence of natural lighting from skylights in classrooms minimizing glare from florescent lighting, small details can provide great benefits in learning. The Cornerstone buildings were created and the equipment and tools were selected with learning in mind.
